Behaviour Consultations - Dogs
Common problems seen:
- Attention seeking
- Anxiety / fear
- Aggression towards other dogs
- Aggression towards to people
- Separation / attachment issues
- Inappropriatte barking
- Incomplete toilet training
The behaviour consultation take place in your own home and can last between 2-3 hours, depending on case. During the consultation, we will review the questionaire you will have completed prior to the consultation and your dog's behaviour will be assessed.
The questionaire and consultation helps us find your dog's motivation behind the inappropriate behaviour and what is reinforcing it. This helps us treat the causes and not just suppress the behaviour, which can often make the behaviour worse.
Once the assesment has been completed, you will be advised of a behaviour programme suitable for your dog. Any practical aspects will be demonstrated until you are happy and confident. A written report will be sent after the visit, this will include relevant history, summary of problems and possible causes, and instructions and an individual behaviour programme for your dog.
On going support will be available to you via phone calls and emails.
In some cases it may be necessary to have follow up visits for training and handling.
If it is felt that the behaviour problem is of clinical causes, then you will be advised to consult your vet. A full report will be sent to your vet. Behaviour modification is only succesful once the clinical causes have been treated.
