Children can come along to play whilst you exercise (under your supervision). I provide resistance bands & skipping ropes etc, you provide a mat, water, towel, cycle/training gloves (for outdoor training) & lots of motivation & determination. If you don't have these one day come along anyway & we will inspire each other! HIGH INTENSITY INTERVAL TRAINING (HIIT) What is it and why does it work? High Intensity Interval training has been found to have various advantages over other forms of exercise for both fat loss and retaining muscle mass. Interval training requires the body to go through a variety of intensities within the same workout, where you alternate a low intensity bout with a higher intensity bout. The interval sessions we will be doing will be based around the HIIT and Tabata style of intervals where, after the initial warm up is completed, the exercises are grouped into specifically timed blocks. These blocks of exercises vary in length from 5 to 60 seconds maximal effort phase, with a short active recovery stage of again between 5 to 60 seconds These blocks are different each time but combine exercises that will target both your cardiovascular and muscular, strength and endurance systems. The session is helped along by some high energy music and the group is encouraged to work at the highest intensity for their personal fitness levels; no one will be competing in the class, unless you want to! The exercises in the classes will vary from week to week but will include body weight exercises like squats, lunges, standing jumps, along with resistance band exercises that will target arms, shoulders, and back muscles. Throw in some dynamic movements like shuttle runs, sprints on the spot, bench stepping and horizontal ladder runs, and you have the ingredients for a motivational and very effective workout. Research into the benefits of HIIT & Tabata style intervals is growing and studies show that the body responds better to short, sharp bursts of exercise both during the session and also for the hours after completion. So if you want to burn body fat, increase your lung capacity, tone your muscles, and have a great workout, interval training is the workout for you!
