The battlefields of the First and Second World Wars have become major tourist destinations in the last 20 years. We, Major and Mrs Holt, began the first organised tours of those battlefields 30 years ago and from the knowledge that we had then, and gained subsequently, about what travellers wanted to see and to learn, we have written a series of guide books to those battlefields.
We receive many compliments on our books - the most frequent advice given by those who have a book to those without one is, 'Don't go without a Holt's guide book'.
We travel all the routes ourselves, we visit every cemetery and every memorial, and we photograph them all. There are simple sketch maps showing the military actions and we tell the stories of individuals who performed brave or memorable actions.
Many professional guides refer to our books as 'the bibles'.
