With energy companies coming under scrutiny from the government and freezing their prices, should the telecoms sector not be following suit? Telecoms leader BT put their prices up twice last year, with the most recent stint in September 2013. BT came under fire from MP’s regarding this move and theories about the price increase were linked to the launch of BT Sport, as well as BT investing heavily in pushing out fibre to street cabinets, whilst attempting to use £1.2bn in public funds to do so.
