MARCH 2013 NEWSLETTER  
WELCOME: March is supposed to 'come in like a lion and go out like a lamb' but, looking out of the window at the very welcome sunshine, it seems to have forgotten that old adage. With Easter at the end of this month, it would be nice to think that the better weather will stay.    
NEWS: We heard last week that our Damson & Sloe Gin Ice Cream has been shortlisted for a HEFF Diamond Award. Last year both our Damson & Sloe Gin Ice Cream, and our Honeycomb Ice Cream were shortlisted and the Honeycomb won both the 'Dairy' category, and the overall 'Taste' award. We were not allowed to enter the Honeycomb this year as it had won last year. We will now have to wait until May to find out if the Damson & Sloe Gin can scoop the top prize this year.  
Plans for the Ox Roast to be held in Ledbury, next to the Market House, to mark the 60th anniversary of the Queen's coronation are proceeding apace. Along with the Ox Roast there will lots of other attractions including a festival of local food and drink and crafts, which I am organising. It promises to be a really exciting event. If you would like to be part of this you can be a 'sponsor' for £20.00. For this you get a Ledbury Ox Roast lapel pin, a membership card, an ox roll on the day, an Ox Roast glass, and a chance to Meet the Meat at Awnells farm in April. For those who do not eat meat, there is a vegetarian option produced by Caroline Handley from Handley Organics in Lebury. Sponsorship packs can be obtained from the offices of Howard Pugh in Ledbury. If you would like to see a film that was taken at the original Ox Roast in 1953, just type 'Ledbury Ox Roast' into any search engine. If you would like more details of the Ox Roast, the website will be www.ledburyoxroast.org.uk (which is slightly different from the e-mail address that I gave in last month's newsletter).  
Attached to this newsletter is an invitation to the Red Cross Spring Gardening Event in April, which gives you full details and contact details. I hope to see you there.      
SPECIALS: For Easter we will be reprising the Hot Cross Bun Ice Cream that we have created in previous years for Easter - a delicious combination of spices, dried fruit and peel and marzipan.    
NEW OUTLETS: The Royal Exchange Inn, Hartpury, Gloucester - a country pub under new ownership featuring our ice creams and desserts on their menu.
