The podiatrist, Elisabeth Allan is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council and is a member of the Society of Chiropodists and Podiatrists which is a faction of the College of Podiatry. Initially starting as a general podiatric clinician working in many city health centres and hospitals, she progressed to specializing in Biomechanics. She finally joined the Multi Professional Triage Team working as an extended scope Podiatrist assessing patients on the foot and ankle Orthopaedics list in Southampton. Elisabeth left the NHS to start her Private Practice in 2005. Podiatrists deal with the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of the lower limb and foot. They are qualified to treat people with arthritis, diabetes and sports injuries and are able to undertake nail surgery, the training is extensive. Verrucas need to be assessed carefully as there are many different types which require varied treatments. The patients health, age, lifestyle and footwear all have to be considered in formulating a treatment plan. These are devices which fit into your shoe, either bespoke-made or off the shelf which correct the position of the foot and alleviate painful foot problems or sports injuries. They can help with various musculo-skeletal problems and pain such as with Osteo and Rheumatoid arthritis, sports injuries and more every day problems such as heel, forefoot pain and bunions. Elisabeth is fully trained to help people with both Type1 and Type2 Diabetes. People with diabetes should be assessed once a year to monitor and prevent problems associated with this disease. Many problems can prevented if found and treated early.
