Tyre pressure measuring sensors (TPMS)

Many new cars are fitted with some form of tyre pressure measuring sensor valves, these valves have a life span of around 5 to 7 years, at which point the batteries fail and the sensor stops working. It is not possible to change the batteries, so a new sensor valve must be fitted.
Recently I had a customer who was quoted £200 per wheel for new sensors, we did the job for £78 per wheel, a big saving, especially as we also use original manufacturer parts - the same as any main dealer.
TPMS valves have now become part of the MOT check, and any fitted since dec 2012, must be in working condition otherwise you will fail your MOT.
Most new TPMS valves are self teaching and will reset and sync with your car, there are a few odd ones, where it is necessary to have them reset by the main dealer once fitted.
