Obsolete system replacement

Silchester Control Systems has experience of many old, obsolete systems that we continue to support for our clients, wherever possible, until the business case for replacement is made. We can source second hand spare parts when new part stocks have been exhausted. We often carry out system replacement projects where minimising plant outage time is of great importance. We have recently completed projects replacing Siemens S5-155, S5-115, S5-100u, Square D, Allen Bradley PLC2 and Telemecanique Series 7 systems. These projects are designed to maximise the value of the existing system i.e. Options such as retaining the existing I/O system (where the spares situation permits / makes sense) and upgrading the CPU and programme are considered and discussed with the client. As part of this approach the eventual replacement of the old I/O would be planned and costed so that the future capital investment can be quantified and planned into future budgeting.
