We've been working on an innovative finish, since it's conception a few years ago while we were holidaying on the island of Ithaca. For this we utilised the finish Shou-sugi-ban, a process created by the Japanese. We were so captivated by the multitude of weathered wooden finishes to be seen on the island's doors, shutters and in the olive groves, that we were driven to express these textures as part of our portfolio. As far as we know, we are the first to develop this finish for picture frames. Though there are other's who display the samples we have made, stating they also manufacture this finish but being present at the conception of it's inspiration, we understand the process and believe it to be ours and so like many things in life, there are numerous impersonators but few innovators.
