If you wish to refer yourself by contacting us directly or you are referred by a professional some brief details will be taken over the telephone and an initial appointment will be made. This will be within 10 days and will take the form of a detailed assessment normally lasting for up to 90 minutes.The assessing clinician will ask you questions about the problems you are experiencing and will also take a history. After the initial assessment the clinician will give a recommendation for appropriate treatment. A treatment plan will be formulated jointly with you and a set of sessions will be agreed and booked. These would normally be on a weekly basis and would be for 1 hour with the exception of Trauma Focused Therapy when the sessions would last for 90 minutes. A trauma therapist may use Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) or Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) as a model for treatment according to your specific needs.
