Actualize Couples Counselling
My approach to couples counselling
draws upon systemic theory and practice. Rather than working
with you and your partner as individuals, and trying to solve
the ‘problem person’ in the relationship, we would explore how you interact
and relate to each other, define the issues that drive your conflicts,
and makes sense of your relationship history and how you've arrived
where you are today.
Couples often experience difficulties when the
family values we're raised with come into conflict; however,
differences can enrich relationships if we recognise
and accept them. Affairs and the betrayal of trust
can jeopardise the future of a relationship, leaving both partners
distant and disconnected. And sometimes, after the first
flush of love, we're left feeling that there's a huge gap between
what we''d expected from each other and what we've actually got.
Of course, every relationship is unique and the difficulties
you're experiencing will be unique to you.
A lot of the work in couples counselling is around
encouraging a greater mutual understanding, recognising how and
why things have changed from the early days when you were in the
first flush of love, and discovering new ways to make lasting
By providing a safe and secure space, I can support you both to explore problems openly
and honestly, to gain a deeper understanding of each other, and
to develop a deeper intimacy.
I charge £25 for the initial
couples counselling session.
Ongoing sessions cost £45-60
fees are on a sliding scale and I invite clients to pay at a level they feel comfortable with.
