Develop your Creative Writing Style
Short Courses at AUB
book publishing, book publishers, fiction books
If you have already completed our introductory course or are already comfortable with the subject, this advanced course will help you work on your own fiction writing, be it short stories, life writing, novels of any genre, children’s fiction or plays. During the course you will receive advice from writer and producer, Tim John, you will concentrate on how to arrange and expand your material, revise and edit your work, as well as a chance to create new work that feeds into your manuscript. You will have opportunities to build up your own repertoire by studying other writers’ strategies and your writing will be read and discussed in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Throughout the course, there will be the opportunity to develop your own characters, pace, plot and story line, write authentic dialogue and make a setting come alive. Your tutor will provide you with realistic deadlines to keep you working on your fiction throughout the week and will provide advice on how to get published. You will be encouraged to write a minimum of 2,500 words a week.
We recommend that you complete our ‘Introduction to Creative Writing’ course or have an equivalent understanding of the subject.
