This detailed 20-week course has been developed for designers of all disciplines who already possess a good knowledge of the ‘Rhino’ program and wish to hone their skills for professional applications and personal projects.
Your tutor Edward Ward, specialist technician at the Arts University Bournemouth, member of the ‘Association of Professional Model Makers’ will guide and support your progression through intermediate and advanced assignments.
You will focus on creating clean and accurate geometry for use in rapid fabrication and prototyping, laser cutting and 3D printing processes using state of the art digital technologies in the Arts University Workshops.
You will progress through a specific structure and course delivery, and your tutor will also provide adequate time for your own projects and concept development.
You will explore and examine advanced file creation and preparation for 3D printing and CNC machining, analysing a range of strategies and identifying the most suited applications for physical model creation.
Processes explored will include, building models from sketches, curve and surface evaluation, advanced surface editing and optimization, creation of accurate meshes for printing, 3D printing post process options, Rhino CAM file preparation, 2D Milling operations, 3D Milling setup and work strategies.
All students attending this course must have completed the ‘3D Design & Laser Cutting’ introductory course or possess a good knowledge of ‘Rhino’ program.
