Liana's Therapy & Beauty Treatments
Reflexology is pressure massage to the feet where all the internal structures and organs are mirrored. It helps balance the body which is divided into ten zones, or energy channels. These zones are lines running the entire length of the body and extend into the feet. On each foot are found reflex points that correspond to each gland and structure in the body.
When the energy flow is blocked by congestion: disorders and even disease can occur. Crystalline deposits will sometimes form on the corresponding reflex point on the foot. When the reflex point is treated, these crystals are broken down; the energy flow is thus enhanced, encouraging the systems to work again in unison. Reflexology can calm and soothe give you a feeling of well being; improve circulation; relax the mind and body; and remove waste deposits. Many conditions can benefit including:
• PMT & Menstrual Irregularities
• Headaches and Migraine
• Sinus problems
• Muscular and Joint pain
• Stress related conditions, anxiety and depression
• Digestive disorders
• Fertility and pregnancy related issues
• Sleep disorders
• Grief or Trauma
What are the crystals?
Uric acid and excess calcium are two of the waste products that build up in the body when the metabolism is not working according to plan. These deposits can be felt on the feet as grains of sugar or sand. The little clumps can be broken down by reflexology massage. The broken down deposits are then carried by the blood and lymph flow to be eliminated by the body.
As a reflexologist, my approach to reflexology is to treat a person as a whole as often symptoms mask the real cause of a problem. I believe that reflexology can empower people to take control of their own health. Many people find reflexology to be very relaxing; this is an additional benefit but not the sole purpose of the treatment. Reflexology can be very powerful and has helped many where all else has failed.
Your first treatment
Allow about one and a half hour for your first appointment. This allows me to give a consultation; the treatment usually lasts about one hour and 10 minutes. However, some people are so sensitive that a much shorter time is all they can endure without a break, especially on the first or second visit. Do not have a heavy meal before coming for your treatment. Your feet will be cleaned first with a pad soaked in a cleaning solution before the treatment begins. If you have dry feet oil may be applied at the end of the treatment with the final foot massage.
