We provide comprehensive preparation for the CIE Pre-U Principal Course (PC) and Short Course (SC) in French, German and Spanish.
Our tutorials focus on developing the four core language skills examined - reading, writing, listening and speaking – as well as exploring and developing topic areas, cultural topics, prepared topics and set texts. Tutorials emphasise tailored presentation, targeted practice and personalised feedback, using a bank of proprietary resources (authentic and semi-authentic), questions and papers, as well as past and specimen papers, to enhance fluency and accuracy, develop vocabulary and grammatical control, build confidence and provide enjoyment and stimulation.
We provide an informal assessment for each tutee at the outset. This provides focus and clarity for the preparation process, allowing us to target accurately where each tutee needs particular support.
Working through the relevant Pre-U specification (PC or SC), our tutorials are also interactive and fun, developing creatively our tutees’ language skills, time management skills, and their ability to respond effectively to the variety of question types found in Pre-U French, German and Spanish examinations.

. Understanding of spoken French, German or Spanish in a variety of contexts and genres (including formal interviews, informal dialogue, extracts from lectures and seminars and academic reports);
. Ability to write French, German or Spanish confidently and accurately, demonstrating fluency and structure, for a variety of purposes (including essays on topic areas, cultural topics and set texts, précis, dictations, cloze tests, and translations);
. Understanding of the different types of written French, German or Spanish (including newspaper articles, academic journals, extracts from novels, poems, and plays, critical guides and reports);
. Understanding and application of a range of vocabulary and grammatical structures in French, German or Spanish (including tenses, moods, voices, cases, parts of speech and lexical fields);
. Knowledge and understanding of the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of countries and communities where French, German or Spanish is spoken (including Senegal, Luxemburg and Mexico, respectively).
