Solution Focused Hypnotherapy uses practical, modern and well researched strategies to help people make significant, positive changes in their lives in a relatively short period of time. We look at what the client wants to achieve rather than at the problem(s) that prompted them to seek change.
Hypnotherapy is a combination of Psychotherapy and Hypnosis. The Psychotherapy on its own is extremely useful in helping clients address their issues, and its effects are reinforced by the use of Hypnosis. Hypnosis reduces anxiety and this is done very simply through relaxation and visualisation. This allows the client to focus on the positive aspects of their lives that encourages a shift in perspective.
What to expect in a Hypnotherapy session:
My approach focuses on the present and future and not on the past. I will ask the client to consider their preferred future, for instance, what would be better if the problem had improved? What would have changed? This enables the client’s possible solutions to become more apparent and worked towards. My approach does not require the client to analyse painful memories from the past. Any unpleasant events that happened will be acknowledged but then we will concentrate on getting from where you are to where you want to be.
Clients may come to me believing the hollywood image of a hypnotist who swings his watch like a pendulum and speaks a few magic words to the client who is then miraculously cured of their problem. As you would expect this image is some way off from reality. Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is actually a very collaborative process and changes only happen when you want them to because you are prepared to take the necessary steps to allow it to happen.
The initial consultation is free of charge and will look at what you want to achieve, how I can help you and how many sessions you are likely to need.
Subsequent Hypnotherapy sessions involve much more than Hypnosis. During the first part of each session we’ll talk about the progress you have made and I’ll encourage you to express yourself positively. We will always focus on solutions rather than problems.
I’ll help you to imagine your preferred future, a future where you have a more useful perspective on the quality of your life. I’ll then guide you into a relaxed state of Hypnosis so that we can consolidate what we have discussed.
