EFT or Emotional Freedom Technique is a tool based on the theory of acupuncture – without the needles.  It is often described as acupressure for the emotions. It is also known as ‘tapping’ as we use our fingertips to tap on the meridian points.  The meridian points that we use are natural comfort points that we often touch unconsciously when we are stressed or anxious.

EFT is like traditional talking therapies (e.g. counselling) with the added benefit of soothing the body.  Our body often stores stress, anxiety and negative emotions.  We often say things like – I’ve got a thump in my throat, my stomach is knotted with tension, I’ve got the weight of the world on my shoulders etc.  What we are describing is emotions showing up in our bodies.

EFT uses our feelings, thoughts, emotions and body sensations.  By tapping on soothing points in the body whilst we focus on what is upsetting us we eliminate tension, pain and negative emotions.  Anyone can learn EFT, even children.  Most people will get results provided they invest a bit of time and effort.  Difficult issues are best dealt with by an experienced EFT practitioner though.

EFT has been successfully used to help many different issues.   Below is a list of common issues:

  • Stress
  • Anxiety
  • Panic Attacks
  • Relationship Problems
  • Fertility Issues
  • Negative Emotions
  • Fears, Phobias
  • Weight Loss
