Matterhorn Amplifiers for all your valve amplifier servicing, repair and modification needs, plus custom amplifier builds. Does your amplifier require new valves or re-biasing? Has your amplifier been dormant and requires restoration? Our Standard Valve Amplifier Service includes: Cleaning of all control potentiometers, switches, sockets, valve bases and connectors. Re-soldering dry and/or suspect electrical connections. Testing and biasing of all output valves (tubes). Any preventative maintenance as required after discussion and agreement with the customer. Does your amplifier make strange noises? Does it hiss, crackle, pop or hum? Does it fizz, buzz, sputter or squeal? Does it “motor-boat” or produce “ghost” notes? Has your amplifier lost its' volume and/or tone? Matterhorn Amplifiers undertake a complete fault finding and repair service: Fault diagnosis: Involves visual inspection, AC/DC measurements, signal tests, component tests. Remedy: Replacing faulty components, cleaning and tidying up. Testing: At full capacity plus necessary adjustments including biasing of output stages etc. Full valve (tube) bias adjustment and matching. Various modifications can be undertaken, such as: Adding a master volume control. Power stage pentode/triode switching. Adding additional boost and/or gain stages. Tone sculpting and tone-stack modifications. Adding series/parallel effects loops and/or reverb. Adding valve (tube) or solid-state rectification. Vintage restoration work. Cabinet recovering. Amplifiers can be custom built to your specification, such as: Low power 5W combo with single 12" speaker (e.g. for home/studio recording use). Medium power 20W combo with single 12" speaker (e.g. for rehearsal room/live use). High power 50W and 100W combos with twin 12" speakers (e.g. for live use). All amplifiers use valves (tubes) for the pre-amp and power-amp stages, as well as effects and reverb drive and recovery circuitry. All combo amplifier formats can also be supplied as a seperate head and cabinet(s). Cabinets can also be built to your own specification with different speaker sizes and configurations.
