The Health & Safety Executive (HSE) require that Asbestos Awareness training is provided to all employees whose work activities could potentially expose them to asbestos. This is particularly critical for demolition workers and those in the refurbishment, maintenance and allied trades.

In providing this training to your employees you are ensuring compliance with your statutory obligations under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006 and the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.

This course is designed for those who are liable to disturb asbestos while carrying out their normal everyday work activities, or those who may influence how work is carried out.

We will ensure all delegates are provided with an awareness and improved knowledge of the hazards and risks posed by asbestos containing materials within their everyday working environment. We will provide an overview of the applicable legislation currently in place and what your obligations are as an employer and your rights as an employee.

In accordance with Regulation 10 Paragraph 127 of the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2006, the following topics will be covered by means of both written and oral presentation.

  • Types of Asbestos
  • Properties of Asbestos
  • Effects on Health
  • Presence of Asbestos in Buildings
  • The Risks
  • Avoiding Risks from Asbestos
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE)
  • Legislation
  • Emergency Procedures

Each delegate will receive a certificate of attendance, a copy of the presentation/training booklet and additional supporting material. This certificate will expire after 1 year from the certificate date, after which the delegate is required to complete a refresher course.
