The Senhouse Centre, a place for healthy living, was opened in May 2000 and now brings in people from the local community each week. Many projects, activities and services linking to health are provided at the centre every week .and since the opening, the centre has so far enabled people to set up their own business in various complimentary therapies and has helped others to continue their work. Organisations such as Turning Point, West Cumbria Primary Healthcare Trust, Community Law Centre and the Centre for Complimentary Care use the centre on a regular basis.
The aim of the center is to bring together a range of activities and initiatives that will improve the health and quality of life of the local community. Rev.Jim Baker says: "this is a really exciting project, and it has been very encouraging to us that so many people have already come forward to run activities and provide services within the centre. We hope that many more people will follow, and that the community will make use of this excellent facility".
Activities available in the Centre are: Acupauncture, Aromatherapy, Baby Massage, Breast Feeding Support Group, "Caring about Cancer" Support Group, Homeopathy, Indian Head Massage, Nutritionist, Reflexology, Reiki, Stop Smoking Clinics and Yoga to name but a few!!!!
