What is art therapy?
It can be particularly helpful to people who find it hard to
express their thoughts and feelings because they can’t find the words to
do so, or who express their distress in self-destructive ways. On the
other hand, people who are very adept at using words or those who are
not quite sure what is wrong, also find that art therapy reaches the
parts that other therapies cannot reach!
Art therapy (also known as art psychotherapy) is a
psychological therapy which enables self-reflection and self-discovery
through art-making, facilitated by a qualified art therapist. It is
similar to any other form of psychotherapy in that it is a confidential
and effective treatment for many kinds of emotional distress.
