This is a 2 year programme that offers a professional qualification as a counsellor. Each year consists of 35 academic weeks. The Diploma offers different learning experiences and topics over the 6 terms that will develop your 'self', your theoretical awareness and beliefs, and your skills into being an insightful, knowledgeable and skilled counselling practitioner. This promises to be a fabulous learning experience. Our Diploma is primarily based on the Person-Centred approach although we do explore the benefits and appropriate use of other approaches. This programme at Chapters comes highly recommended and receives fantastic feedback from our External Verifier at the CPCAB and all of our students who undertake it. The Diploma is the tried and tested, recognised qualification associated with counselling as it places a huge emphasis on skills, theory, professional issues and personal Development. This course alongside the other levels has an External Assessment attached to it so our students have proven skills & knowledge - we know they're fantastic but we also have the exam results that say they are too! Termly topics include Ethics, Professional Issues, Social Systems, Mental Health, other therapies and more. These may change as the Diploma is always tailored slightly to meet the needs of the group.  There are 7 mandatory units on this programme as follows: Working ethically, safely and professionally as a counsellor Working within a counselling relationship Working with client diversity in counselling work Working within a user-centred approach to counselling Working with self-awareness in the counselling process Working within a coherent framework of counselling theory and skills Working self-reflectively as a counsellor During the 2 years you will be required to undertake a minimum of 20 hours of personal therapy and also complete 100 hours of supervised counselling hours within a placement. Group supervision will be provided as part of your course in the second year. Please note that you should be 25 years of age to study for this qualification, however if you are younger and have completed the Level 2 and 3 and would like to start the Diploma please get in touch so that we can discuss the options available to you. Progression routes are available onto the Level 5 Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and the Level 6 Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision should you wish to continue your studies. Please ensure that applications are made before interview dates so that we can send for references and offer you an interview. It may be possible to offer alternative interview dates if necessary.
