Qualified Architect with over 30 years experience. I have worked on the design and construction of just about every type of building imaginable from large hospitals to modest house extensions.

Architecture is very much a business, it is about trying to deliver the building you want, to your budget, on time. Unfortunately much of the process often involves a myriad of Government Departments and Regulations. They may have opinions and rules that run counter to your aims. If your present your application in a manner that does not comply to the wishes of the regulatory bodies you may experience unnecessary delay. Sometimes that is unavoidable, but often it is just a matter of presentation.

Architectural design is basically a puzzle. Fundamentally it is about making a scheme work. It is about the efficient and functional use of space. Often the smaller the project the more difficult the constraints, but always good design is firmly based on the practical.
