The Vulcan Fire Training Fire Manager Advanced Course (5 Days), which runs three times a year, gives delegates with the Fire Manager Certificate, or who have already obtained a Fire Technician qualification the opportunity to develop their training to a higher level.
As well as the 5 Day course, students are asked to complete a Project of at least 10,000 words, which they are given 6 months to complete following the course. This is intended to be a working document and provide all the fire safety management processes within an organisation.
Vulcan Managing Director Graham Holloway said: “As soon as several projects are received we meet with representatives of the Institute of Fire Safety Managers for them to be moderated. Although the aim is for Associate grade with the Institute, the high calibre of delegates in recent times has meant that latest submissions have all received full Membership, awarding the recipients an MIFSM qualification.”
One of those delegates commented:
“May I thank Vulcan for providing the valuable and interesting "Advanced Fire Safety Managers" course that I attended in June 2012. I am extremely pleased that my project achieved the standard of work that meets the requirements for full membership of the Institution of Fire Safety Managers. This achievement is due in no small part to the training provided by your organisation. As someone who already has experience of around 100 FRA's in properties that include schools, factories, multi storey car parks, offices, theatres and leisure centres, I found that the course fulfilled my need to check balance the approach I take and also provide me with "food for thought".
The course provided a forum to discuss some of the vagaries of fire safety management with a knowledgeable ex-senior fire service officer, the outcome of these discussions helped to reinforce my confidence in my fire assessment competence. I found the learning process that is based on exercises supported by anecdotes and video examples to be very stimulating.”

Another Advanced course took place recently and the team at Vulcan look forward to receiving the projects from those delegates, which they hope will prove equally successful.
