Portable printers are the easiest way to supply hard copy output for
any micro-electronic based equipment.
They include a printer mechanism, interface electronics and power
supply in a ready to use, small footprint casing.
Features include a choice of thermal or impact printer mechanisms,
choice of power options for fixed (direct power), portable (battery
power) or in-vehicle applications.
Interfaces include Bluetooth or IrDA wireless solutions or RS232C,
USB serial and Centronics type Parallel via a cable connection.
Portable printers differ from the smaller mobile printers by
offering choices of wider and longer paper rolls. Three paper widths are
available; 60mm, 80mm and 112mm giving nominal 2, 3 and 4 inch print
Although portable printers can't easily be carried in a pocket or
clipped to a belt they can easily be transported in a bag or case for
field use. They are also compact enough for dashboard mounting in
vehicles or on a cramped countertop at the point of sale (POS).
The very latest development is a stand alone SMS Printer. This is a
small, portable, standalone device for receiving and printing text
messages sent to it.
The unit works with any network provider and can be customised if
required to suit specific applications.
