Quite simply digital signage is a digital display, such as a LCD or plasma, running video and audio content specifically designed for its target audience.

There are different levels of complexity of digital signage, from a stand alone digital display functioning as an electronic poster to a wide area network of displays managed from a central point. The latter is often referred to as narrowcasting.

The Digital Signage Standards Working Group define digital signage as;

"a network of digital displays that are centrally managed and addressable for targeted information, entertainment, merchandising and advertising."

Whatever the definitive explanation is, all definitions agree there are three critical items required:

Digital display – often a LCD or Plasma screen
Network Device – A network player that connects the display to a central server, (or is simply connected to the display as a stand alone device), that can allow the desired information to be presented. Whether this be stored locally or centrally or streamed across an internet connection.
Content Creation Software – Software that allows users to create digital content then run and manages the desired content.

DTB Solution Limited can supply all three items for digital signage: Different sized displays; A range of network players; And Digital signage content creation and playback software.
