Myofascial Release (MFR) is an oil-free soft tissue therapy for the treatment of muscle immobility and pain and increasing range of movement. It works on the connective tissue, called fascia, that surrounds every cell, organ, bone and structure in the body, including muscles, groups of muscles, blood vessels and nerves. Fascia can become constricted due to traumas such as illness, infections, inactivity and other physical and psychological stresses. When tight, or stuck, it can pull muscles and bones out of alignment or restrict movement, resulting in pain and lack of mobility. The aim of this therapy is to stretch and mobilise the fascia, releasing any areas where it is sticking or constricted, causing pain and restricted movement.
