 Dr Gupta is a Opthalmic Surgeon by profession currently serving at the Royal Surrey Eye Services and Patron H M The Queen. His passion is Rabindranath Tagore, his music and Indian classical music. He is on the National Steering Committe for the Tagore 150 years birth celebrations to be held in the UK in 2011 for Dartington Hall along with Satish Kumar, Mark Tully and Michael Wood. He is the Principal and Artistic Director for Fedaration for Indian Arts (FIA), UK and Dakshinayan UK. Dakshinayan is the academic unit of Dakshinee, Kolkata, India which is the foremost Tagore institution in India. Mr. Gupta graduated from Dakshinee scoring the First Class First position and a Gold Medal. He also won the Suil Kumar Roy Smriti Puraskar.
