My name is Elif. I am an Integrative Psychotherapist. My initial training was psychodynamic and I therefore hold and use many of these theories to develop my thinking in my clinical work. My later Integrative training introduced me to relational work and the importance of incorporating the consistent awareness of attachment and relating within the therapy room. I am heavily influenced by work in the relational field and use the relationship between a client and myself as a key factor in giving insight and movement in the therapeutic arena. Honesty and trust are very important ingredients in a therapeutic relationship. I attempt to live in a more mutually inclusive relationship with clients, one that is not just thought about, but also shared. In this way the intrapsychic is shared more explicitly, when appropriate, within an intersubjective relationship. By this, I mean that I try to take more relational risks within the therapy, all the while trying to accept my own fallibility.
