Placing a full length mirror between two windows fools anyone immediately entering the room into believing that there are actually three windows. In doing so it also enhances the natural light that the room receives. A popular placing of a full-length mirror is to lean it against a wall in order to give the room a more relaxed feel.
Full length mirrors are also effective when used as a pair on either side of a mantel piece. Not only do they add an air of symmetry to the room but they also make it appear far larger than it actually is. Incidentally the use of tall full length mirrors is more effective if the room has a tall ceiling, while the mirrors can be used to be better effect when placed sideways if the room is unusually wide.
If your full length mirror is in the bedroom and of the free-standing variety, then you will have the luxury of moving it around when you fancy a change.
A really smart way to use a full length mirror, if you have an office that’s more of a converted cupboard, is to place the mirror (or two of them) in front of your desk to open up the space and make it appear twice as large.
