We receive lots of questions all the time about becoming a foster parent but probably the main one is "What is a foster care?" and essentially what it means is providing children who are unable to live with their families with a safe and stable home. For children whose early lives may have been troubled by uncertainty or disruption, neglect or abuse, foster care can make a meaningful difference to the lives of thousands of young children. You do not need any formal qualifications to become a foster carer but we do expect you to enjoy the company of children and have a strong interest in helping them to have a better future. Patience, understanding and commitment are some of the principles that usually make a good foster carer, and the stability and space in your own home to accommodate them. If you have room in your home, experience of caring for young people, patience, the time and energy to devote to a child and the desire to nurture and develop a child, then you could be perfect for Fosterplus and a young person.
