Business profile

I offer a friendly, experienced, professional counselling and psychotherapy service based in Ovingdean, a little way east of Brighton centre. I am qualified and insured and provide counselling, psychotherapy and family therapy that is registered and accredited by BACP and UKCP. I am a qualified family and systemic psychotherapist and am a member of the Association for Family Therapy (AFT). Therapy only works if you feel safe and comfortable with your therapist, so I offer a free half hour meeting to help you decide if you would like to work with me. I have a wide and long experience of working with individuals, couples and whole families on a variety of personal issues and challenges that can face us all at some time in our lives. For many years, I was a social worker engaged with children and families and I later trained as a counsellor (Humanistic/Person-Centred). I subsequently trained with Relate in marital and couples counselling before embarking on a four year training in family and systemic psychotherapy at the Institute of Family Therapy in London. I have personal past experience of being 'on the couch' with four years of twice-weekly therapy with a psycho-dynamic therapist. As a counsellor/psychotherapist, I have worked in NHS settings and CAMHS, as a couples counsellor with Relate, with an LGBT counselling service in Brighton, with Terrence Higgins Trust in Brighton and at a hospice in East London, working with patients and their families. I have particular expertise in relationship and couples issues, issues relating to sexual identity and issues related to bereavement and long-term illness. I also provide supervision to new and experienced counsellors, including those still in training and am a qualified and experienced supervisor.
