Change of name for Aberdeen O-rings & Seals from Precision Polymer Engineering

Meeting the global challenge of sealing in high pressure / high temperature and low temperature environments for oil and gas companies in Aberdeen has moved a step closer with the announcement that seals stockist Aberdeen O-Rings and Seals is now called Precision Polymer Engineering Ltd, (PPE) Aberdeen.  The name change heralds a “broader strategic partnership approach by PPE to the oil and gas market that reflects the global nature of our customers' businesses and the need for common solutions that deliver real productivity benefits,” says Paul Gillyon, managing director, PPE Ltd.  

PPE Aberdeen as a subsidiary of PPE, a Unit of IDEX Corp, is part of an international network comprising sales offices in the US (Houston), Europe and Asia, in addition to extensive manufacturing and technical development resources at PPE's Blackburn facility in Lancashire.

Industry-leading Performance

PPE's research and development into oil and gas seals has led to significant breakthroughs in elastomeric materials performance including the Endura range of elite materials specifically for use in downhole, surface and subsea oilfield equipment and offers excellent explosive decompression (ED) resistance.  

In addition, earlier this year, the ultra-high temperature resistant Perlast G75TX perfluoroelastomer was announced for processes up to +621°F (+327°C), and with a compression set of just 8%, significantly increasing the efficiency and lifespan of seals in pumps and valves.

PPE has recently invested in new moulding press equipment for Endura seal production, specified by PPE manufacturing engineers and installed at the Blackburn, factory. In procuring the presses, one of the company’s objectives was to increase production efficiency by reducing set-up-times. This has been achieved by an innovative combination of equipment configuration using magnetic platens, and computer control; together delivering a 40% increase in available  Endura manufacturing capacity. To operate the new moulding presses, production staffing has been increased by 5%.
