To introduce myself, my name is Simon Mutimer, I have lived in East Anglia all my life and my heart is fimly rooted in the countryside. I have always been involved in rural trades. Having worked in farm enviroments and been involved in woodturning for a long time I have noticed that often the old tools are the best. A farmer picks up an eighty year old wrench because it feels good and is still working, a hedge layer goes to a billhook because you just can not make a machine that lays a hedge and woodturners especially, covet old tools because they feel "right" in the hand. I am not saying we should go back to treadle lathes and throw out our hedge cutters, but, they dont make em like they used to!! Some time ago I started collecting and using old and antique tools, soon it became a slight obsession! My main interest being old spirit levels and brace drills, generally ornate tools from a time where good tools were a real statement. Of course you cant keep everything so the selling began, firstly through local auctions and now over the internet. For me, antique and old tools are not just a business but a passion, I enjoy using, restoring and selling old tools and do my utmost to give the best possible service to fellow old tool users and collectors.
