Good Directions Ltd beats worldwide competition to manufacture 122 clocks for a Former Soviet State

Good Directions has spent the last 20 years building a reputation worldwide as one of the market leaders in the design, construction and installation of exterior clocks, clock towers and GRP structures with previous projects including clocks in Leicester Square, St Ethelburgas church in London, Warwick Castle, Southampton Docks and Leeds Castle.

Once awarded the contract Good Directions was able to advise on the design for the clocks using CAD drawings and artist impressions, customizing their standard designs to be in keeping with the local area and coloured to match the surrounding street furniture.

Twenty four ‘George’ style, four sided pillar clocks were chosen with varying dial designs and decorations to feature in many city centres across the country. Cast aluminium columns support GRP dial boxes painted in black with hand finished detailing picked out with 23½ carat gold leaf.

Nine circular and four square double sided wall mounted feature clocks once more with various dial and bracket styles were also manufactured. Again, 23½ carat gold leaf was used to embellish the feature clocks with city names and the country’s coat of arms.

To ensure the accuracy of each clock feature, time and date information provided by GPS is used to synchronise the clocks though their Total Control System (TCS). The TCS is designed to automatically carryout time changes and is fitted with a battery back-up system to keep the clocks running for several days without mains power.

Due to the continued success of Good Directions export sales they see Eastern Europe and the Middle East as a key expansion area for 2008/09.
