The Guild of Master Craftsmen is a trade
association whose members work in over 400 different trades, crafts and
professions. The main objectives of the Guild are to help those they represent
obtain more work and build their business, increase public awareness of their
skill and integrity, and provide opportunities for them to make savings on
business expenses.
Guild membership is very diverse. Some
members are very large companies – many of them household names – whilst others
are sole traders. A significant percentage represent traditional crafts,
working in gardens and on the land with materials like stone, wrought, thatch, stained
glass and precious metals, whilst a growing percentage may work on computer
hardware or software.
However, there are some things that all
Guild members have in common. They have acknowledged a commitment to work with
skill and integrity with customer service at the heart of their objectives;
they have agreed to abide by the Aims and Objectives of The Guild; and they
have all received praise and recommendation from their customers.
The Guild believes that the interests of
members and their customers are best served by opening its doors only to those
who work with skill and integrity. A commitment to excellence? Yes. A belief
that quality and service still count in the world today? Certainly.
