Reverse carved lucite brooches are one of the most beautiful early plastic collectables. They were hand produced so each one is unique. Many subjects were carved but the floral ones were the most popular. You get naturalistic roses, panses, daisies and floral groups, some in vases and baskets. Because each brooch was hand finished you also get abstract and fantasy floral subjects too. Collectors also look out for crinoline ladies, swans and other birds, butterflies, names and messages, ships, and fish. They are still so affordable and the clear properties of the acrylic lucite mean that the brooches match with everything as the colour of the outfit can show through.
