I started painting in 1971 with oils, having also tried watercolours – it was a move to living on the that really fired my enthusiasm, getting to know acrylic paints, plus the fantastic seascapes!

I thank the people of Orkney for their fantastic support that started me on a career as a professional artist and later a lovely Gallery in the Scottish Borders and a very successful business with my artwork reproduced as prints and cards.

Now living in I can return to my art with new challenges of subject, light and form.

I paint to capture a scene and the emotion it creates.

I want you to be able to look at my work and not just see a view, but an opportunity to experience a journey, to travel into the scene – a walk on the moors - through woodland – up a narrow river gorge past waterfalls or across a beach, always with a view to the horizon, and to experience the feelings , emotions and perhaps memories such journeys can stimulate.
