Mr Mohammed has a national and international reputation for his work and teaching on Hip Arthroscopy. He developed instrumentation to give safe arthroscopic access the hip joint in 1995.
He specialises in Lower limb joint replacement and Sports Injury.
He works at the world famous Wrightington Hospital where hip replacement surgery was pioneered in the 1960's.
He was appointed in 1995 and a young surgeon introduced new ideas and technologies to Wrightington Hospital with uncemented hip replacement, ceramic on ceramic bearings and bone preserving hip replacement (TPP).
He uses cartilage repair techniques in patients with localised damage in the knee and ankle joint. This includes microfracture and chondrocyte implantation. He is involved in a 10 year prospective randomised study to assess the long term outcome of this treatment.
His practice over the years has developed to provide a secondary and tertiary referral service to colleagues in the UK and abroad.
